As adults, we never know when the darkness will come into our lives. As a child, it’s not something you expect. It’s not something that a child can even understand. A child still has the original connection to the Universe, and talks to God and expects an answer. This connection allows the child who is overwhelmed by the darkness to have true resilience and strength in her spirit. She sees strangers helping her; she sees doors open; sees that light comes through the tiniest of places—and she learns to survive.
